XenClient offers customers different types of licensing models based on the choice of the XenClient edition. This allows for an alignment between the nature of the use and the type of XenClient edition needed.
1. Know your product edition
Virtual desktops with local execution designed to be paired with the centralized management capabilities of the XenClient Enterprise Synchronizer—offered as a part of XenDesktop Enterprise or Platinum Editions or as a standalone product.
Multi-level secure virtual desktops with local execution designed to meet the most extreme isolation, security, and performance requirements for public sector customers.
Free virtual desktops with local execution for IT professionals, software developers and testers.
2. Know your licensing model
XenClient Enterprise for standalone use
XenClient Enterprise offers customers the flexibility of a per user or per device licensing model that aligns with today's enterprise-wide desktop usage scenarios. Both licensing models are based on the total number of users or devices that access the software, regardless of whether or not they use the software simultaneously.
XenClient Enterprise for use with XenDesktop
XenClient Enterprise is included as part of XenDesktop Enterprise or Platinum. When using XenClient with XenDesktop, necessary licenses are included with XenDesktop and correspond with the XenDesktop licensing model purchased.
XenClient Express is free and does not require a license.
