Citrix Turbo Charges HDX Technology for Multimedia and CloudNew HDX Functionality Delivers Breakthrough Multimedia Experience Over Any Distance |
San Francisco - Today at Citrix Synergy™, where virtual computing takes center stage, Citrix Systems announced the most significant upgrade ever to its market-leading Citrix HDX™ technology, dramatically enhancing performance, fidelity and bandwidth efficiency for rich media services like video, audio and 3D graphics, especially when delivered over wide area networks or from external cloud environments. The latest version of HDX, which is a core technology in the company’s popular Citrix XenDesktop® and Citrix XenApp® product lines, will be available to existing customers as a technology preview at Citrix Synergy in San Francisco, May 25-27, 2011.
As the industry moves from the “PC Era” to the “Cloud Era,” end users are increasingly expecting employers to deliver corporate applications and desktops to a wide variety of devices and locations. Doing this successfully requires a secure, high-definition experience that seamlessly blends private enterprise clouds with public cloud services. The cornerstone of this user experience is the ability to consume multimedia content, collaborate via both voice and video and securely access data from any location, across any network and from any number of corporate and employee-owned devices.
The latest breakthrough in Citrix HDX technology will once again advance user experience far beyond that of competitive desktop virtualization solutions, enabling customers to transform distributed desktop computing into private desktop clouds that deliver desktops, apps and data as a high-definition on-demand service.
What’s New
- No-Compromise Multi-Tasking – Users need to work with multiple applications and collaborate and attend virtual meetings with voice and video, all without being slowed down due to background activities such as file transfers or printing of documents. With its latest HDX release, Citrix unleashes the core HDX technology to work more seamlessly and efficiently across multiple simultaneous network connections, enabling greater visibility and prioritization of work types. Combined with an optimized Citrix Receiver™ that can parallel process complex interactive multimedia, voice, video, and peripheral data, users receive an uncompromised high-definition experience.
- Crystal Clear Voice and Video Collaboration – Users today expect to be able to place and receive VoIP calls, view videos, and attend online meetings and webinars without experiencing audio jitter or delays, even when they are far away from the corporate datacenter. This new release optimizes the company’s HDX RealTime™ technology with full support for quality of service (QoS) and prioritizes real-time traffic across both TCP and UDP network streams, delivering unparalleled bi-directional audio for VoIP and Unified Communications applications.
- Rich Graphics Experience for All Users - Rich graphic environments are no longer solely the domain of graphic designers and engineers. Users today increasingly need access to Flash-based applications and training, DirectX multimedia and Windows Aero features on a daily basis. This new release includes groundbreaking new innovations to the company’s HDX RichGraphics™ technology, including enhanced Flash redirection, command remoting of DirectX and GDI+ graphics, integrated HDX 3D Pro™ and Microsoft RemoteFX technology.
- Advanced Branch and Cloud Acceleration – Users in branch offices or working from remote locations need secure, “LAN-like” access to their corporate desktops, apps and data. The remote user deserves to have the same multi-tasking, crystal clear, rich graphic experience as the LAN-based worker. It is no longer acceptable to “wait until I get a fast connection,” This new release includes significant enhancements to the company’s HDX WAN Optimization™ technology, including optimizations to deliver Flash content over extreme distances, handling latencies of up to 300 milliseconds, greater than the typical latency between San Francisco and Hong Kong. These new innovations control multimedia traffic at a highly granular level to ensure the most important and delay-sensitive multimedia services are given top priority and bandwidth guarantees.
