When EMAX
is installed in an environment, it connects to all the business
critical resources, including physical servers, operating systems,
hypervisors, virtual workloads, and applications. Because EMAX has
visibility across a wide variety of components, it can exert automated
management more intelligently than other products, acting as a centralized
management point across all business critical assets. This unique
capability allows true Quality of Service (QoS) independent of the
platform (physical or virtual), enabling enterprises to use best
practices for efficient resource allocation without concern for
the underlying hardware.
EMAX policies can also take into consideration rules that may apply
when a virtual machine is subject to a XenMotion enforced by DRM.
These rules can ensure that certain virtual machines are always
hosted on the same XenServer, or ensure that they never reside on
the same host. Application performance and high availability are
some of the considerations for implementing affinity rules.
