Citrix and Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Connecting Cloud Computing to the Corporate Datacenter with Citrix and AWS.

As an extension of its ongoing collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Citrix is now delivering its innovative desktop virtualization, networking, and enterprise mobility solutions on AWS.  Together, Citrix and Amazon Web Services are leading the transformation that is taking place in enterprise IT as organizations move toward cloud services and mobile workstyles.  Today’s organizations are looking to the cloud to deliver cost-effective, enterprise-class platforms to power the applications that users need. Together, Citrix and AWS help IT deliver those applications via desktop and application solutions like Citrix XenDesktop and Citrix XenApp; enterprise mobility solutions such as XenMobile, and world-class networking solutions like NetScaler and CloudBridge.  Citrix solutions on AWS fall into several categories:

Desktop virtualization

The market-leading desktop and application virtualization solution, Citrix XenDesktop, now runs on the market-leading public cloud, AWS.  Deployment of XenDesktop/XenApp on AWS provides the enterprise with a cost-effective, scalable solution for delivering self-service applications and desktops with the nearly universal endpoint device support provided by Citrix Receiver.

By delivering virtual desktops and applications through XenDesktop and XenApp running on AWS, IT administrators are able to provide a powerful desktop and application virtualization solution with a compelling operational cost model. The combined solution is fully supported by Citrix and there is no change to the XenDesktop or XenApp product licensing when using the products in the AWS cloud. Architects and IT administrators will find detailed technical resources to assist with design and deployment of XenApp on AWS, including a Reference Architecture and a Reference Implementation Guide.

Cloud networking

Citrix NetScaler, an advanced cloud networking platform, and Citrix CloudBridge, a solution that transparently and securely connects enterprise datacenters to any off-premises cloud, are now available on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace.  NetScaler on AWS combines the elasticity and flexibility of the AWS Cloud with the same optimization, security, and control that NetScaler provides for the most demanding websites and applications in the world, making it possible and cost effective for enterprises to extend their enterprise network to AWS. Enterprises can now deploy the same L4-7 network stack on AWS that they use on-premises, ultimately making AWS a natural extension of their own IT infrastructure.

NetScaler VPX and CloudBridge VPX are available on the AWS Marketplace in a number of different configurations and licensing models, including a customer-licensed model and a pay-as-you-go model that includes support. Architects and IT administrators will find a comprehensive set of documentation the guide the configuration of NetScaler and CloudBridge, including a NetScaler for AWS Deployment Guide.

Enterprise mobility

Ctrix XenMobile is now available on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace. XenMobile offers security and compliance for IT while giving users mobile device, app and data freedom. Users gain single-click access to all of their mobile, SaaS and Windows apps from a unified corporate app store hosted in AWS, including seamlessly-integrated email, browser, data sharing and support apps. IT gains control over mobile devices with full configuration, security, provisioning and support capabilities. In addition, XenMobile securely delivers Worx Mobile Apps, mobile apps built for businesses using the Worx App SDK and found through the Worx App Gallery. A free trial of XenMobile on AWS is available, as are paid plans.
