XenApp provides multi-user access to Oracle applications. This is accomplished by configuring XenApp to host Microsoft Internet Explorer. This configuration allows users to launch a published Internet Explorer session and access Oracle applications via the Windows client, while leveraging the benefits of using both application suites. Citrix has more than 15 validations with Oracle.

Until recently, mobile employees who needed remote access to enterprise applications behind their corporate firewalls relied on computers with high-speed Internet connectivity. This combination enabled them to access their company’s network and use applications. While this approach still works well most of the time, in today’s on-the-go business world, it leaves an access gap when the employee is away from the laptop or WiFi. Citrix bridged this access gap using smart phones, the 3G network, and Citrix Receiver for Mobile to communicate with the Oracle applications in the datacenter. This solution can be replicated by other organizations that have Oracle or any other enterprise applications published on XenApp server farms.
How much scalability overhead can you expect with your Oracle applications? Citrix has conducted scalability and performance assessments to determine the specifications and best practices for two major Oracle enterprise-class applications—Siebel 8.0 and PeopleSoft 9.0, running on XenApp (both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms) and virtualized by XenServer. The results show virtualization overhead can be as low as 6 percent with XenApp virtualization on XenServer. The results are published in the following PeopleSoft and Siebel whitepapers.
