Intel and Citrix XenServer

Helping customers succeed with server virtualization

Intel

Optimizing server virtualization

Citrix and Intel have joined forces to provide solutions that boost reliability, availability and performance; enable integration of 64-bit platforms; and streamline system administration. Citrix XenServer virtual server software running on Intel Xeon 5300 – 7400 Series processors, together with Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) for optimizing virtual machine monitors (VMMs) such as XenServer, can help your current or planned virtualization solution perform at its peak.

Superior virtualization performance

The inherent manageability and flexibility benefits of virtualization, are causing increasingly large numbers of XenApp farms to move to server virtualization—with most of them doing so using Citrix XenServer. Working with Intel Xeon host servers, customers can experience maximum performance and server consolidation, and a reduction in power usage and server footprint.

Enhancing XenServer with Intel VT technology

Through Intel’s participation with Xen.org, the Xen hypervisor, which is at the core of Citrix XenServer, was designed to fully leverage Intel’s Virtualization Technology (VT) capabilities. At the silicon level, Intel VT provides comprehensive hardware assists that boost virtualization software performance by up to 2.1 times, improve application response times and provide greater reliability, security and flexibility needed for demanding virtualization workloads.
