Windows CE Clients have met
Microsoft's 'Designed for
Microsoft Windows for
Pocket PC' Certification.

Windows CE:  Pocket PC, Pocket PC Phone Edition, Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 5, Windows Mobile 6, HPC, HPC Pro.

Please note devices running Windows CE Smartphone Edition or Windows Mobile 6 Standard Edition are not supported.

The Windows CE Client runs on all the processor types supported by Windows CE. If you are not sure which type of processor your device has, you can do either of the following:

• Download the All Platforms image, which must be executed on your 32 bit windows PC when the Windows CE device is attached. This will work with any Windows CE device, but is a large download.
• The processor type of a Windows CE device is usually displayed in the About screen of the System control panel. You access this from the Settings entry on the Start Menu, though devices vary in this arrangement. Note that the distinction between ARM and ARM4I is rarely clear: a device which identifies itself as ARM or SA-number is usually ARM, but a device which identifies itself as a variation of ARM-XSCALE may be either ARM or ARM4I.

.cab files cannot be used for palm form factor devices, including Pocket PC: instead you need to install using the .exe file from a PC.  For HPC and HPC Pro form factors, the .cab file can be copied directly to the Windows CE device.
