Universal Software Client for the Citrix Delivery Center

Citrix Receiver for Windows is the first universal client for IT service delivery. With Citrix Receiver installed on a device, IT can deliver applications and desktops as an on-demand service with no need to manage, own or care about the physical device or its location. This model enables IT to effectively operate as a service provider with complete control over security, performance, and most importantly, user experience.

Under the hood, Citrix Receiver is a lightweight software client with an extensible browser-like “plug-in” architecture that communicates with head-end infrastructure in the Citrix Delivery Center product family including XenApp, XenDesktop. Delivering virtual applications and desktops, multi-media content, intranet web sites and documents as a service is easy with Citrix Delivery Center’s publishing features.

High Definition Experience
Includes Citrix HDX technologies to bring a high definition user experience across the full range of applications including document-oriented, data-based, graphics-rich and multimedia applications – on any network connection.

Safe and Secure
Supports high performance, standards-based encryption security for all data from the datacenter, over the network to users anywhere. Only keyboard inputs and screen updates traverse the network. This means that data, like e-mail and intellectual property, remains safe and secure in the datacenter, and is always securely encrypted when traversing the network.

Targeted Deliveries
Allows IT to deliver applications to users using a rules-based system. Delivery rules can be based on group credentials, IP addresses, machine names, login IDs, operating systems. This give IT the flexibility to ensure plug-ins are delivered to the authorized users.

Transparent to Users
Allows the use of enterprise computing services without understanding (or caring about) the underlying complexities. Once it’s installed, its pretty much “lights out” automated from there forward.

Open, plug-in architecture
Built with a browser-like “plug-in” architecture. Plug-ins provide a full array of Citrix-provided functionality including app delivery for on-line and off-line app usage, desktop delivery, access control, password management, multi-media acceleration, service monitoring, communications services and more.

Auto-updating
Citrix Receiver is completely under centralized administrative control to allow the entire Receiver setup, including plug-ins, to be kept up-to-date, with scheduled automatic download to users based upon user preferences for update checks, or IT-controlled mandatory updating.

Citrix Receiver for Windows is free and is available immediately for any Windows-based device, including PCs, Laptops, and Netbooks.
