Citrix® NetScaler® is an all-in-one Web application delivery controller that makes applications run five times better by application accelerator methods such as HTTP compression and caching, ensuring application availability through advanced L4-7 load balancer and content switching methods, increasing application security with an integrated application firewall and substantially lowering costs by offloading servers for server consolidation. It reduces Web application TCO, optimizes the user experience and makes sure that applications are always available. NetScaler comes in both built-for-purpose MPX-series hardware appliances powered by Citrix’s nCore technology and an economical form factor with our VPX virtual appliance that operates with any standard industry server using Citrix’s XenServer technology. In addition, NetScaler Pay-as-You-Grow offers a simple, on-demand licensing model to easily scale NetScaler performance and provide investment protection, avoid costly hardware upgrades and minimize TCO.

Deployed in front of Web servers, NetScaler application delivery controllers combine load balancer and content switching for intelligent traffic management at up to 18 Gbps along with sophisticated server monitoring and health checks to ensure applications and data bases are functioning properly. Application acceleration methods including HTTP compression, static and dynamic content caching, network WAN protocol optimization, and the multiplexing of thousands of incoming connections to a small number of long-lived back-end server farm sessions speed-up applications by five times and more. Application security is provided with a web application firewall which uses a positive security model and automatically learns proper application behavior to ensure protection against day-zero attacks. Encrypted SSL traffic is no problem as NetScaler provides not only SSL acceleration but full SSL VPN tunnel support with certificate management and granular access control. To provider advanced warning when user application performance is dropping NetScaler provides EdgeSight to monitor application performance; this allows administrators to take proactive action to guarantee solid end-user experience is maintained.
