In a contributed Q&A piece, Malik talked about IT consolidation, cloud computing and virtualization as promising strategies for achieving ROI in a climate of budget cuts. He highlighted distributed computing as a key challenge for IT teams. The other article, titled, Virtual explosion set for 2009, quoted Malik as saying, In 2009, in order to succeed, companies will have to simplify IT by centralizing and managing it without compromising security, and the best way to achieve this is through virtualization.
